looking ahead

Some Day

Some day I want to be the old lady who smiles every day in the nursing home. Who has a sweet smile for everyone and a kind word even when she’s in pain.

I want to be the old lady with a fabulous sense of humor. I want to be the old lady with an elegant style.

I want to be the old lady with lovely children who come to visit. Children who laugh with her, with whom you can see she has a wonderful relationship. Children who see the value in sitting by their mother’s side even in silence. I want to be the old lady whose grandchildren have fond memories. Memories of a happening kind of place where good food and fellowship abounded.

I want to be the old lady who speaks of her husband with high regard. A woman who shares of her collected wisdom with ease and graciousness, with gentleness. A woman who is not afraid of the generation gap but embraces children of all ages and situations.

May each day bring me to closer to being that woman.
